Virtual Terminal
The Converge virtual terminal is the feature most merchants interact with daily. After visiting the Converge Pay Login page and signing in, you land on a dashboard that lets you key in credit or debit card transactions manually. This is ideal for phone orders, mail orders, or any situation where the cardholder is not physically present.
Inside the virtual terminal you can run sales, authorizations, and forced captures. You can also void transactions before the current batch settles or issue refunds against previously settled sales. Each transaction generates a unique ID that you can reference later for reporting or disputes.
Sale vs. Authorization
A sale charges the card immediately and adds the transaction to the open batch. An authorization places a hold on the cardholder's funds without capturing them. You can capture the authorization later, for example after a product ships, or let it expire. This two-step flow is common in hospitality and e-commerce.
Batch Management
Every transaction processed through Converge belongs to a batch. Batches settle automatically at a time you configure, or you can settle them manually. The batch management screen shows all open and recently settled batches with running totals, so you always know how much money is on its way to your bank account.
You can drill into any batch to see individual transactions, filter by card type, and export the data as a CSV file. For merchants who reconcile daily, this eliminates the need for separate accounting exports. Learn more about how these tools benefit smaller operations in our Converge Pay for small business guide.
Recurring Billing
Converge supports recurring billing through stored payment tokens. When a customer agrees to a subscription or installment plan, you save their card information as a token inside the gateway. Converge then charges the token automatically at the interval you define, whether that is weekly, monthly, quarterly, or a custom schedule.
Token-based billing keeps raw card numbers out of your systems, which simplifies PCI compliance. If a charge fails, Converge logs the decline reason so you can follow up with the customer or retry later.
Employee Sub-Accounts
Security best practices call for unique credentials per user, and Converge makes this straightforward. From the account settings page you can create sub-accounts, each with its own User ID and password. You then assign permissions to each account: some users may only process sales, while managers can issue refunds or view reports.
Sub-accounts also create an audit trail. Every transaction and configuration change is tagged with the User ID that performed it, which is useful for internal reviews and dispute resolution. If you need to revoke access, you simply disable the sub-account without affecting the rest of your team.
API Credentials
Merchants who want to connect Converge to external systems need API credentials. These include your SSL Merchant ID, a dedicated API User ID, and the corresponding PIN. You generate and manage these credentials from within the Converge dashboard after you sign in via the Converge Pay Login page.
The Converge API supports several integration methods: a hosted payment page where customers enter card details on an Elavon-hosted form, a direct-post model where your server sends transaction data to the gateway, and a token-based approach for recurring or on-file payments. Our Converge Pay integrations article covers each method in detail.
Reporting and Analytics
Converge includes a reporting module that aggregates your transaction data into summary and detail views. You can filter by date range, card brand, transaction type, batch number, or User ID. Reports can be viewed on screen or exported to CSV for further analysis in a spreadsheet or accounting application.
Key reports include the daily settlement summary, which shows net sales minus refunds and fees for each batch; the transaction detail report, which lists every authorization attempt along with its response code; and the chargeback report, which tracks disputes and their current status. If you are curious how the platform compares with other gateway options, check out our overview of Converge Pay.
Custom Date Ranges and Saved Filters
For merchants who pull the same report regularly, Converge lets you save filter presets. Set up a filter for last-week Visa transactions, for example, and reuse it with a single click. This small convenience adds up quickly when you reconcile accounts daily.
Explore these features yourself. Head to the Converge Pay Login page, sign in to your merchant dashboard, and navigate to the module you want to try.
